My work intuitively explores real and imagined conflicts we have with our bodies and the public and private display of uncertainty and imperfection. I accomplish this by focusing the subject of the work on psychologically vulnerable states in physically awkward compositions.
These sculptures stand between four and five feet in height, which consciously frames the work on a relational scale to that of my grandmother. The scale creates expectations of frailty and subordination, designed to promote an empathetic response to the work.
